Edlingham Castle by scotto Edlingham Castle by scotto
Edlingham Castle was a small fortified manor house, typical of many medieval houses in the North of England. It's defences were increased in response to the border warfare which raged between England and Scotland between the years of 1300 to 1600.

I'll have to try and reshoot this next time I pass as the direction of the sunlight wasn't ideal, still thought it was worth sharing. You can see the steel bars holding the tower from complete collapse in the full view.

Very cool. This castle was mentioned in a book I'm reading about the Templars and Freemasonry; interesting to see it now, and try to picture it as it was then.

Wonderful shot, but for some reason, it makes something in me feel..sad..lost..lonely.. I have no idea why, but this just is so stark..I can't help but think of all the people that once lived there, slept and ate and prayed there, gave birth there, stood a top those walls and watched for a lover or husband or brother to come home..and I want to fix it all, straighten the dying stonework..and make it whole, and a home again..and in so doing, prove that it wasn't all for naught..

This is an odd picture. I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking at (except for the fact that it was, at one point, a home).

I personally like this picture. But I"m not some super good photographer, so I wouldn't know anything about ligthing and stuff.

Beautiful, but there is a problem with the light. The manor house itself is very dark, and there's a bit of lens flare on the left hand side of the image. Over all though, it's very nice.

Awesome pic - you can imagine looking out of the window at the fields in years gone by.... wonder what events unfolded on that ground....

Great time of day you got this - the light is soft & crisp.

Lovely work !!

I'm not sure but I may have passed by this castle in my travels a couple of years ago. The weather was horrendous and was not able to get a shot of it.

Whenever I see such wonderful old places as this I try to feel the energy that surrounds them. I know it sound quacky....but I really believe there is something there and if you are in tune....can tap into it. I would love to see this place again for just that reason.

Beautiful job even if the sun wasn't just right. You have such an awesome eye and talent Scott. I do so enjoy your work!
